The Pacific Community is an international development organization serving Pacific Island countries and territories. Formerly known as the South Pacific Commission, it is owned and governed by its members and provides regional scientific, technical and data expertise.
SPC supports its members through technical assistance, research, statistics and policy advice on shared challenges including climate change, public health, food security, ocean resources and social development.

The Canberra Agreement established the South Pacific Commission
1997
The organization marked its fiftieth anniversary and increasingly used the name Pacific Community
2015
Pacific Community became the official name while the SPC abbreviation was retained

Its 27 members jointly govern a regional scientific and technical organization
The Pacific Community flag uses a blue field with white star-like elements around an abstract Pacific motif, representing connections, shared identity and regional cooperation across the ocean.
