Why Do the Russia and Slovenia Flags Look Similar?
Both flags use the same white-blue-red horizontal tricolor. Russia's dates back to Peter the Great in 1696 and was restored in 1991. Slovenia's was adopted in 1991 upon independence from Yugoslavia and includes a small coat of arms showing Mount Triglav. From a distance, the flags look identical — only Slovenia's coat of arms and different aspect ratio set them apart.
